There are many types of fear: fear of being rejected or alone, fear of not fitting in or being left out, fear of being singled out or made fun of, fear of failing or never being “good enough,” fear of sharing what you believe or how you really feel, fear of others finding out about your fears, etc., etc., etc.
Living in fear is NO FUN! But the good news is, we don’t have to! 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that “...God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” God wants us to take our fears and trade them in for FAITH. Faith in His Son Jesus Christ who gives us the confidence and power to LIVE in a way that honors Him.
So...this brings us to a really important question. THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YOU’LL EVER, EVER ASK YOUSELF:
Do you have this faith? That is, do you know Jesus in a PERSONAL way? Not do you know OF Him. But rather do you KNOW Him? If so, this should be one of, if not THE, first things people notice about you. If not, please talk to Mr. Tim, Miss Beth, Miss Michele, Mr. Glenn, or even check out the “Knowing Jesus” page on the FIA website (www.fiayouthgroup.weebly.com) today (yes, today!). Without Jesus, your life will never be complete!
When it comes to life, you have a very important choice to make. We all do. Will we you stand up and stand out as a follower of Jesus Christ? Or will you just go with the flow and be the “status quo”? Following Jesus might seem scary at times, but the reality is with Jesus on our side we have NOTHING to fear! As you get to KNOW Him, you will learn to trust Him — with every fear, every challenge, EVERYthing. Are you seeking to know Him?
Here’s a place to start — a verse for every day this week: Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 3:6, Psalm 27:1, and I Peter 3:14.
