Tuesday: Ever notice that just about anyone is willing to give you advice, whether you ask for it or not? This is why it’s important for us to be able to spot the differences between the good and the bad. Need a clue? Ask yourself, “Does this advice center around “me” (and what I want) or God (and what He wants)? Take a minute to read James 3:17 and compare the world’s wisdom with the wisdom that can only come from God.
Wednesday: Sometimes God’s advice – whether directly from His Word or from a Christian parent or friend – may not be easy to hear. It may go against everything WE want or even think WE need. But if our faith is REAL, we have to be willing to trust God, remembering that He loves us and always has our best interest at heart. Are you willing to trust Him even when you don’t fully understand? Read Isaiah 55:8-9.
Thursday: Just think… Since God omniscient (that’s a big word for “He knows EVERYTHING”), he already knows all about your problems before you even bring them to Him. He knows when you’re hurt, or scared, or confused, too. Nothing at all is a surprise to Him. So when you feel like you don’t know what to do or where to turn, Who better to talk to about it? He’s not about “finding fault” with your past mistakes, He’s all about helping you learn and grow and be everything He made you to be. Check out Romans 8:27-28 and Philippians 1:6.
Friday: How about when the tables are turned? When someone trusts you enough to ask for your advice? Will you point them to God and offer advice based in His Word (even if it’s not popular), or will your advice sound just like the world? Remember, as Christians we’re supposed to stand out, be different. It’s not always easy, but it is SOOO worth it! Read Romans 12:2.
Saturday: When life gets hard, don’t give up, look UP! Remember God’s promise. He’ll help you find your way. He’ll guide you and show you what you need to do. His help may come directly from His Word, through the advice of a Christian friend or family member, or even through a complete stranger in the right place at the right time. But remember, if you ask, God WILL deliver. It’s His promise to you, and it’s as simple as that! Re-read James 1:5, commit it to memory, and take the time to have a good “talk” with God about the choices you’re facing today, this week, this month, or this year….
