TUESDAY We live in a world where “talk is cheap.” People like to talk about ways that problems can be solved and things can be accomplished. But we Christians should stand out as the ones who move beyond the “talk” are willing to step out and DO SOMETHING that will make a difference in Jesus Name! Re-read James 2:14-17 . Are you willing to step out?
WEDNESDAY James 2:18 goes on to talk about showing our faith “by our deeds.” This means that if we Christians see someone struggling or see something that needs to be done, it’s not enough for us to say, “Hey, hope everything works out okay” and go on our merry way. We should try to do something about it. This is FAITH IN ACTION. It’s what the Christian life (and FIA!) is really all about! Is there something you feel God has been prompting you to DO for someone you know (or maybe even barely know)? Why not ask God to help you do it and take the first step TODAY (or as soon as you can)!
THURSDAY So when it comes to “doing something” what’s stopping you? Fear -- of the unknown? of failure? The fact that it’s not convenient? Or that it means you’ll have to step out of your “comfort zone”? Is there something you think God might want you to do, but you’ve resisted? Have you talked to God about it? Ask Him to look into your heart and help you understand what’s holding you back. Read Joshua 1:9 , then ask God to give you the courage to “step out” and remember you’re not alone!! He’s right there by your side. And there are other Christians who will encourage and support you, too!
FRIDAY Once we step out in faith, we discover very quickly that serving God by serving others — doing something great in Jesus’ Name — really is an awesome privilege. We get to be a part of what God is doing in the world and be a light for Him. And it’s lots of fun, too! You’ll never regret taking an opportunity to put “feet to your faith” and live out what you believe. It’s what you were made to do. So don’t wait! With God’s help, you can do amazing things! Read Ephesians 2:10.
SATURDAY When we step out in faith to do the things God is calling us to do, it’s important to remember, too, that even though we may be physically serving people, we are really serving Christ. If we put our focus on people, rather than on Jesus, we’re sure to be disappointed. People may forget to say “thank you” or may even be unkind. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us that we shouldn’t expect to receive our reward here on Earth. Our reward will be in Heaven. So do your work for the Lord, not for men. His words to you, “well done” will be your ultimate reward!
